Augmenting ERP for OCD with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

$300.00

Learn the who, what, where, when, and why of boosting ERP for OCD with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy skills!

The International OCD Foundation Practice Guidelines recognize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as a helpful and evidence-based way of complimenting frontline treatment, particularly Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). Come spend the day with Dr. Catherine Schuler in this intermediate-level workshop for clinicians. This workshop is best suited for therapists who already have foundational training in ERP, and want to learn how ACT skills can take their ERP further.

Dr. Schuler will focus on how to use principles and skills of ACT to enhance ERP treatment. This training will introduce the six core processes in ACT (mindfulness, acceptance, values, committed action, defusion, and self-as-context), including exercises that can be used with clients. Dr. Schuler will demonstrate how ACT metaphors and skills can assist with motivation for OCD treatment, prevention of compulsions (including mental compulsions!), and maintenance of OCD recovery. Participants will learn case conceptualization from an ACT lens and will have the opportunity to practice conceptualizing OCD cases using ACT. Sample courses of ACT-enhanced ERP treatment for OCD treatment will also be shared
