Frequently Asked Questions About Emetophobia Video Series

  • This course is virtual via online videos.

  • No, this series is designed to be used independently as a self-guided resource. That said, working with a specialized emetophobia therapist alongside the series can accelerate your progress significantly. If you're ready to explore therapy, learn about emetophobia treatment at CABT.

  • We recommend watching the series in order, starting with Video 1. Each video builds on the last, beginning with understanding why emetophobia develops, moving through the treatment roadmap, and ending with tools for maintaining lasting recovery. That said, if a specific topic feels most urgent to you right now, it's fine to start there.

  • Both options are available. Each video can be purchased individually, or you can purchase the videos 1-3, videos 3-6, or the full 6-video bundle at a discounted rate. If you're unsure where to start, Video 1 is the natural entry point, and many people find that once they watch the first video, they want the rest.

  • Each video is approximately 25-40 minutes long and can be watched at your own pace. You can pause, rewind, and rewatch as many times as you need, there's no expiration on your access.

  • Yes, the series is appropriate for older teenagers and can be a helpful resource for adolescents who are beginning to understand their emetophobia. For younger children, we recommend working directly with a therapist rather than a self-guided program. CABT treats emetophobia in children and teenagers. Contact us to learn more.

  • Video 2 covers ERP and exposure therapy in depth and walks you through how to build your own fear hierarchy, but the series itself does not require you to do exposures to benefit from it. Understanding how exposure works and why it's effective is valuable on its own, and many people find that learning the framework makes them more ready and willing to begin exposure work when the time is right.

  • This series gives you the knowledge, framework, and tools to understand emetophobia and begin your recovery independently. Working with a CABT therapist provides personalized, one-on-one guidance, a clinician who knows your specific triggers, tailors your treatment plan, and supports you through the hard parts in real time. Many people use the series as a starting point and transition to therapy when they're ready. Learn about emetophobia treatment at CABT.

  • Yes, Video 4 was created specifically for family members and caregivers and covers what your loved one wishes you understood, the well-meaning behaviors that unintentionally reinforce the fear, and how to offer support that encourages recovery. The rest of the series is also valuable for family members who want a deeper understanding of what their loved one is experiencing and why.

  • Most emetophobia content online is created by sufferers sharing their personal experiences, which is valuable, but not the same as clinical guidance. This series was developed by Dr. David Yusko, one of the world's leading emetophobia specialists with over 20 years of clinical experience, and Dara Lovitz, a recovered emetophobe who was Dr. Yusko's patient. That combination of deep clinical expertise and authentic lived experience is rare, and it's what makes this series unlike anything else available.

  • Absolutely, and we encourage it. Many therapists recommend the series as a supplement to emetophobia treatment because it reinforces the core concepts of ERP and gives patients additional tools to work with between sessions. If your current therapist is not familiar with emetophobia specifically, sharing this series with them may also be a helpful starting point for your work together.
