Lecture 1
Title: Parent Coaching to Reduce Family Accommodation of Child and Adolescent OCD
Presenter: Caroline Haimm, Psy.D.
Date: Friday, Sep 5, 2025
Time: 12:00-1:00pm EST
CEUs: 1 hour
Description: When anxious kids and teenagers are not able to engage in treatment, parents feel at a loss for how to help their struggling child. Fortunately, there are treatments for child anxiety, in which parents alone can learn strategies to help their anxious child, without any requirement for the child's participation. Join Dr. Caroline Haimm on Friday, September 5, 2025, from 12:00-1:00 pm EST for a live webinar on parent coaching to help reduce family accommodation in children and adolescents with OCD. Dr. Haimm will present on evidence-based parent-coaching strategies drawn from the Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE) program, general parenting practices, as well as her own clinical experiences working with parents with anxious kids.
Learning objective: Participants will be able to define family accommodation of OCD and identify two examples of changes parents can make to reduce family accommodation.
Lecture 2
Title: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for OCD
Presenter: Catherine Schuler, Psy.D.
Date: Friday, Oct 3, 2025
Time: 12:00-1:00 pm EST
CEUs: 1 hour
Description: The 2025 International OCD Foundation OCD Treatment Guide recognizes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as an effective adjunctive and second-line treatment for OCD. As a complement or alternative to ERP, ACT skills can help people living with OCD change their relationship with their symptoms and learn to align their actions with their values. Join Dr. Catherine Schuler on Friday, October 3, 2025, from 12:00-1:00 pm EST for a live webinar on using ACT skills in OCD treatment. In this lecture, Dr. Schuler will introduce the 6 core principles of ACT and describe how to incorporate ACT principles into ERP for OCD. She will also share how ACT metaphors and skills can assist with motivation for OCD treatment, prevention of compulsions (including mental compulsions!), and maintenance of OCD recovery. Participants will leave with concrete skills they can apply with their OCD clients.
Learning Objective: Participants will be able recognize the core principles of ACT and identify two examples of how to incorporate ACT principles into ERP.
Lecture 3
Title: Co-existing PTSD and OCD
Presenter: David Yusko, Psy.D.
Date: Friday, Nov 7, 2025
Time: 12:00-1:00 pm EST
CEUs: 1 hour
Description: Join Dr. David Yusko on Friday, November 7, 2025, from 12:00-1:00 pm EST for a live webinar on the complexities of co-existing PTSD and OCD. This informative session will delve into the challenges of diagnosing and treating individuals who experience both conditions. Dr. Yusko will review the overlapping symptoms of PTSD and OCD, providing insights into differential diagnosis to accurately distinguish between the two disorders. Furthermore, he will discuss effective treatment strategies for addressing both PTSD and OCD simultaneously, offering valuable guidance for mental health professionals seeking to enhance their clinical skills in this area.
