Postdoctoral Fellowship

We are currently accepting applications for the 2024-2025 training year. We will be reviewing applications, interviewing candidates, and extending offers on a rolling basis. Applicants are encouraged to apply no later than 1/1/24, although preferential treatment will be given to applications received early.

CABT offers a two-year clinical postdoctoral fellowship in evidence-based treatments for obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and all of the anxiety disorders. Fellows will receive extensive training and supervision in a variety of disorder-specific cognitive behavioral therapies, as well as broader training and supervision in exposure-based cognitive behavioral therapies for anxiety disorders.

The focus of training during the first year of our postdoctoral fellowship is on supporting the fellow in becoming a licensed, independently practicing clinical psychologist. Additionally, we aim to immerse the fellow in the clinical work of treating patients across the lifespan and developing expertise applying evidence-based treatments in real world settings. To this end, the primary responsibilities of a first-year fellow include:

  • 25 hours of patient care per week with up to 50% of caseload working with children and adolescents

  • Up to 4 hours/week of individual supervision with licensed CABT psychologists

  • Weekly participation in CABT’s 1-hour staff meeting, used to review new intake case presentations, group consultation on particularly difficult patients, internal training, outside guest speakers, day-to-day operating questions, and/or journal club

  • Attendance to all CABT therapy workshops (ERP for OCD, PE and CPT for PTSD, transdiagnostic behavior therapy training for anxiety disorders)

The second year continues to focus on the development of clinical expertise while also transitioning the fellow into a more independently operating licensed psychologist role. This will involve an expectation of becoming licensed in the state of PA, in addition to an emphasis on the development of both supervisory and consultation/training skills. The primary responsibilities of a second-year fellow include:

  • 20-25 hours of patient care per week with up to 50% of caseload working with children and adolescents

  • 2 hours/week of individual supervision with licensed CABT psychologists

  • 1 hour/week of advanced postdoctoral supervision focused on early career professional development

  • Ongoing attendance at CABT’s weekly staff meeting

  • At least 1 hour/week providing supervision to a CABT predoctoral extern

  • 1-2 hours/week observing senior CABT psychologist providing consultation to outside mental health professionals

Requirements

  • Completion of an APA-accredited doctoral program in Clinical Psychology and APA-accredited internship

  • Prior clinical experience and training in the delivery of empirically supported treatments and assessment of anxiety disorders, OCD and/or PTSD

  • Preference for working with individuals across the life span, including children, adolescents, and adults, although applicants who have an interest in working primarily with adults are still encouraged to apply

Benefits

We offer a competitive benefits package and salary commensurate with experience and training.
